Knights Find Positives in Difficult Night Against OC Cats

at OC Cats · Hart Park

GameChanger box score includes additional developmental statistical activity recorded after the competitive scoring period. Official result: OC Cats 21, Nobel 1.

Tuesday night was not the result we wanted as we fell 21-1 to OC Cats at Hart Park, but there were still several things I liked from our group against a very tough opponent.

Preston Flint got our offense started with a hard line drive the other way in the first inning. Later in the night, Preston gave us three innings on the mound and struck out five hitters. Evan Martinez also had a productive two-way night, going 1-for-2 with a walk to reach base twice while opening the game with two solid innings on the mound. Evan allowed one run and struck out three. Vinny Bobadilla added a scoreless inning in relief and struck out two.

Our pitching staff finished the night with 12 strikeouts. I believe that is the most strikeouts we have recorded in a game as a program, and doing that against an opponent like OC Cats is something we should recognize.

Offensively, Joshua Sanchez went 2-for-3 with a double and scored our run. Tyler Gingras drove him in with a triple. Kobe Ardelean also doubled and stole a base, and we finished the night with eight hits overall.

We also know where we have to be better. We gave a very good team too many additional opportunities with free passes and defensive mistakes, and they took advantage of them. It was not our night, but our guys continued to compete, we had several strong individual performances, and there are positives from this game that we can build on as we keep working.
