BASEBALL LEADERSHIP
DJ Gunderson
Athletic Director · Head Baseball CoachDJ Gunderson serves as Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Nobel University. After leading the Nobel Baseball program during the 2025 and 2026 seasons, Gunderson was promoted to Athletic Director in the summer of 2026, taking on a broader role in the continued development of Nobel Athletics.
Gunderson believes the collegiate athletics experience should extend well beyond performance on the field. His coaching philosophy centers on developing well-rounded student-athletes who grow as competitors, students, leaders, and people of faith.
“If all I have done when a player leaves Nobel is make him a better baseball player, then I have failed him as a coach.”
At Nobel, Gunderson emphasizes Faith, Integrity, and Excellence, with the goal of helping student-athletes develop the character, discipline, and leadership skills necessary to positively influence their families, careers, and communities.
Before entering coaching, Gunderson played collegiately at Santa Barbara City College, where he earned All-Southern California recognition and Western State Conference Reliever of the Year honors during his sophomore season. Following that season, he was invited to play for the Santa Barbara Foresters in 2011 and was a member of the organization during its NBC World Series championship season. He later earned a collegiate baseball scholarship to Sonoma State University and continued competing in professional baseball leagues, including the Moses Lake Rattlers in 2015 and the Empire Professional Baseball League in 2017.
Gunderson also brings professional experience outside athletics, including university instruction, recruiting, compliance, business, and Fortune 100 financial-services experience. He earned his bachelor's degree and MBA from Bethesda University while working full time and received academic recognition during his graduate studies.
Away from Nobel, Gunderson volunteers as a coach with Laguna Niguel Little League Challenger Baseball, supporting opportunities for athletes with disabilities to participate in the game.
