Athletic Staff

DJ Gunderson serves as Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Nobel University. After leading the baseball program during the 2025 and 2026 seasons, he was promoted to Athletic Director in summer 2026.

Gunderson's philosophy emphasizes developing student-athletes beyond the field, focusing on character, leadership, and personal growth through Faith, Integrity, and Excellence.

“If our student-athletes leave Nobel as better athletes but not better people, then we have missed the greater purpose of what we do. Athletics is only one part of life, and our goal is to develop people of character who make a lasting difference in their families, communities, and beyond.”

Before entering coaching, Gunderson earned All-Southern California and Western State Conference Reliever of the Year honors at Santa Barbara City College. He later played at Sonoma State University and competed in professional baseball. He holds a bachelor's degree and MBA from Bethesda University and brings experience in higher education, recruiting, compliance, and business.

Outside of Nobel, Gunderson volunteers with Laguna Niguel Little League Challenger Baseball, helping provide baseball opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
